The History

As a leader in the commercial insurance and risk management space, INSURICA understands the impact of rising healthcare costs on businesses and their employees, especially when those costs start to limit access to care. For their own colleagues , it was becoming a concern that out-of-pocket expenses could possibly become a barrier to accessing necessary treatment. In 2025, they decided to address that.

That’s when INSURICA partnered with Paytient to offer a smarter, simpler benefit: a way for employees to pay for care over time, on their own terms. Just a few months in, the results speak for themselves.

The Challenge

INSURICA has always prioritized offering robust benefits. Recognizing that rising healthcare costs could potentially force colleagues to delay – or even decline – getting the care they required, the company knew it needed an innovative solution to help its colleagues avoid draining their savings just to stay healthy. 

They needed a benefit that would:

  • Support HDHP adoption without added risk
  • Remove financial barriers to care
  • Improve employee satisfaction and retention
  • Be simple for HR to manage

The goal was clear: make healthcare more affordable without making benefits harder to navigate.

The Solution

INSURICA chose Paytient’s Health Payment Account (HPA) to fill the gaps that traditional benefits couldn’t. 

The HPA gives employees and their families an interest-free, fee-free way to pay for care, including medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, and even veterinary expenses.

Instead of postponing care or turning to high-interest credit cards, employees can swipe their Paytient card and split the cost into manageable payments — no stress, no surprises.

The Implementation

Rolling out Paytient was as smooth as it gets.

Led by Benefits and Payroll Manager Kari Hoffman Clem, the implementation was fast, clear, and well-communicated. Kari championed the benefit internally, helping employees understand how (and when) to use it. Her proactive approach meant HR didn’t need to lift a finger twice, and employees got the support they needed right away.

In the first 5 months:

  • 23% of eligible employees have activated their Paytient accounts.
  • 35% of activated members have already used Paytient to pay for care.
  • 75% of those active users have used Paytient to pay for care more than once.

These numbers are more than just data points — they’re proof that the Paytient is working, and working well.
