The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan
With Medicare Rx drug coverage, beneficiaries can get their meds for $0 and pay their bill later with no interest.

What is the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan?
High prescription costs shouldn’t prevent beneficiaries from getting the care they need. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan gives anyone with a Medicare drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage the option to pay out-of-pocket prescription costs over time.
Here’s how it works if a beneficiary opts in: The Medicare plan pays the pharmacy directly for beneficiary's medications. The beneficiary repays their plan in monthly installments with no interest or fees. Beneficiaries get certainty of affordability for their prescriptions throughout the year. This means if they opt in, they'll pay $0 when they get their medications. Instead, their out-of-pocket prescription costs will be billed to them in monthly installments from their plan.
This Medicare program is new for 2025—beneficiaries can opt in anytime. Sign up online, by phone, or by mail with the insurance plan that provides their Part D prescription coverage. Look up a specific plan to opt in here.
