Paytient makes this comparison using the following assumptions to calculate savings:

  • We assume an average credit card APR of 22.8% based on the CFPB’s latest Credit Card Market Report.

  • We assume the cardholder pays 2% of the balance or $25.00, whichever is greater per month, and accrues interest until the total balance is repaid.

FAQs

Get answers to common (but key) questions about Paytient.

What is Paytient?

Paytient is a Health Payment Account (HPA) that turns medical and pharmacy expenses into interest-free payment plans. Paytient is available to Missouri Chamber Benefit Plan members in Missouri.

Who is eligible for Paytient?

Paytient is a benefit you can use if your employer or health plan sponsor it. Your Paytient membership is tied to your job or health plan, so if your employment or health plan coverage ends, so does your access to Paytient. But remember, if you still owe money on your Paytient card, you'll need to pay it back, even if you're no longer employed or enrolled in the sponsored health plan.

How do the payment plans work?

Say you visit an ENT for a sinus infection that won’t go away, and you leave with a $70 bill. The Paytient card can split that charge into 10 payments of $7 — or five payments of $14. You pick the interest-free payment plan that fits your budget.

Where can I use Paytient?

Your Paytient card can be used to pay for medical care at your preferred LCMC Health locations, including Children's Hospital New Orleans, Touro Infirmary, University Medical Center New Orleans, New Orleans East Hospital, West Jefferson Medical Center, East Jefferson General Hospital, and any LCMC Health Urgent Care. Additionally, you can use your Paytient card to pay for pharmacy, dental, vision, and veterinary care at the provider of your choice.

Please note that merchants self-select the category in which transactions will be listed and some merchants may be owned by other companies, therefore the transactions may not be categorized as a medical expense as you might expect. If your card is unexpectedly declined, contact Paytient customer support.

Can I use Paytient for previous out-of-pocket costs?

Yes. You can use Paytient for medical or pharmacy bills still owed to providers, as long as they are not being collected by a different party.

Can I use this for my family/dependents?

The Paytient card1 covers care costs for members as well as their loved ones and pets.

What is the credit line?

Member credit lines vary if you have covered dependents.

• Policyholders with no covered spouse or dependent receive a $1,000 line of credit

• Policyholders with a covered spouse or dependent receive a $2,000 line of credit.

Does Paytient require a credit check?

Paytient does not check credit. We do ask users to self-report income and expenses during onboarding to comply with federal and state lending regulations, but we will never pull your credit score.

How do I set up a payment method?

You can connect a bank account or HSA account within the Paytient app to make payments toward your open repayment plans. Our support team can also take payments or adjust payment plans. Simply contact them via in-app chat or by sending an email to hello@paytient.com.

Is it really free of any interest or fees?

Yes, really. You will never be charged interest or fees when financing your medical or pharmacy expenses with Paytient.

How do I use the virtual Paytient card?

Simply tap the purple card in the Paytient app to view your card information. You can then use this number for qualifying transactions or input the information into your healthcare provider’s payment system.

When do I get a physical Paytient card?

Your physical card will arrive at the address on file with your employer within 7-10 business days after you have created your account. In the meantime, your virtual card can be accessed immediately within your account. You also have the ability to add this card to your smartphone's digital wallet for use at medical facilities and pharmacies that accept digital forms of payment (i.e. Apple Pay, Samsung Pay).

Because your virtual and physical cards will have different numbers, your physical card will need to be activated once it arrives.

How do I activate my Paytient card?

Once your physical card arrives, you'll text the last four digits of your card from your phone to 573-269-3836 to activate! You can also activate your Paytient card within the app by swiping to the white card on your home screen. Once you see that card, press and hold, and then enter the last four digits of your card number.

Can I use my Paytient card at an ATM?

No, you can’t use your Paytient card at an ATM to withdraw cash. Attempting to use your card at an ATM may impact your access to Paytient and could result in account closure. Log in to see the categories for which your card has been approved, or reach out to our customer support team for help.

How do I report a problem with a transaction?

You can reach us by chat or phone every day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. CST. Or you can email us anytime! We take account security very seriously. So if you see a charge you don’t recognize or have any other concerns about transactions to your Paytient account, please contact our Member Support Team.
